Most of us, through adapting to childhood experience, develop emotional blind spots and limiting fears about ourselves and others. Through talking about day to day interactions and preoccupying thoughts, I can help you to understand how distortions in the way you experience yourself and others create anxiety and depression, and inhibit trust, happiness, intimacy, serenity, creativity and achievement. Together, we can target limiting patterns and create individualized strategies to condition new, more fulfilling behaviors and patterns.
TRAUMA:
From early in my clinical practice, I have had a special affinity for survivors of trauma, particularly developmental trauma such as childhood sexual or other abuse. Truly healing from trauma requires finding access to old yet still raw childhood experiences of terror and helplessness, in order to integrate a more fully conscious and coordinated experience of self. Often the worst legacy of trauma is dissociation; the feeling that one is divided and in conflict with oneself. Helping survivors access early pain and fear in a way that is not re-traumatizing but creates greater trust and confidence in oneself and the world is a highly specialized, gradual and delicate endeavor.
